La’s Mission

The saying goes that yarn and fiber does not have an expiration date. This is about change.
-Find it!
-Remember when you bought it!
-Remember what did you want to do with!
Look for:
12 things – could be 12 balls of sock yarn for 12 pairs of socks
12 balls of yarn that you refuse to throw out or that are left over from another project
12 balls of roving
12 WIPs
12 UFOs…
The clock is ticking. Everything – meaning the 12 things you picked - needs to be gone by December 31, 2008. It is up to you to achieve your goal and finish 12 possible missions.
You can…
…Fullfill its original destiny!
…Do something completely different!
…Donate it!
…Throw it out!
…Set it on fire! But then we want to see the video on YouTube!
The goal is to get these 12 items out of your stash by the end of 2008!
And here are a few rules:
1. You commit to the 12 tasks and put your list either on the Ravelry group or on your blog.
2. You finish all of your tasks by December 31, 2008.
3. If you don’t accomplish your goal, you will have to donate the selected items.
My Projects
1. Untangle these 2 wads-o-knots

The orange, brown, green wad got shipped to Marie for her amusement and subsequent keeping.
2. Find a purpose for the Misti Alpaca
3. Use up the blue and raspberry Peruvian Pure New Wool

I’m thinking felted ass mat
This was traded to Stacey for some self-striping sock yarn to use in Project #9, instead of my Lana Grossa, which I really REALLY wanted to knit up for me.
4. Knit my nephew Mikey’s hat, for whose sole puprose he bought this hideous yarn at a garage sale.

My mind keeps replaying the scene in my head: Mikey handing me the 2 balls of yarn, asking in a sweet voice “Auntie La, could you make me another hat? The one you made me before is now too small.” And that was last Spring. Yeah, I suck.
5. Make baby/toddler dress for Marina

6. Design and knit a baby blanket for DH’s coworker “WIP” due sometime this year.

7. Finish my (rather ugly) felted bag. Possibly publish the pattern. We’ll see.

Need to felt the handles, engineer how to attach them, actually attach them, then convert La-ese notes into a readable pattern, instead of chicken scrawl.
8. Knit Eris pullover

9. Knit self-striping socks for SIL Sophia (by her birthday in May)

As any self-respecting Browncoat would, I’m knitting Kaylee Socks from Monkey Toes, so that I can knit these socks as part of a KAL tribute to MommaMonkey who passed away recently. We’ll miss her!
The yarn and the pattern weren’t a good match, so I’m cobbing up a 2×2 ribbed toe-up pattern instead.
10. Knit Cat Face Lace memorial socks - Momoze

11. Finish the prototype mini-Serenity and give it to coworker for their cat.
Mainly entails the weaving in of the ends and steam blocking, then remembering to take it to work to give to Claudia.
12. Use up, throw out, burn (with video footage) or otherwise cause the scrap heap unexist.
